A friend of mine had an irritating issue with the mast anchor on his Randmeer yacht. The mounting plate for the mast anchor has 8 protruding bolts which can be painful to step or kneel on when switching position. He wanted a cover for this.  Using rough dimensions and photographs, I thought it was easiest to model the anchor bracket first and then design the cover around it :-  Unfortunately when I trial printed the first design, I had delamination problems due to the length and height of the model. To fix this, I beefed up the corners and incorporated additional diagonal stiffeners, as well as adjusting the print parameters:-  Here is the completed cover after vapour smoothing, showing the additional stiffeners and corner reinforcement :-    |
